The Story of Baja House

Baja House, formerly known as Casa Morelos, is a historic home in the center of Todos Santos that has evolved from a family residence into an intimate six-room hotel. Its story is still visible in the original character of the house, from its high ceilings and black palm beams to the spaces that once formed part of a traditional family home.

The house belonged from its beginnings to Don Manuel Salgado Cota and María Luisa Guluarte Araiza. By 1947, it consisted of two bedrooms, a long corridor overlooking the kitchen, and a small family garden. The high ceilings were supported by black palm beams, with metal hooks that once held oil lanterns. The original fireplace was preserved as the house evolved over time.

In the 1990s, the property was carefully renovated and transformed into a small six-room hotel, while retaining many of the elements that give the house its distinctive character. In 2022, the property was redecorated with new pergolas and terraces, while maintaining its connection to the original home.

Today, Baja House is a closed-door hotel designed with guest privacy in mind. Each room offers a private space to retreat, while shared areas create opportunities to relax and connect. The result is an intimate stay that feels less like a conventional hotel and more like having a house of your own in the heart of Todos Santos.
